Volker Schaner was born in 1968 in Augsburg, Germany. At the age of 19 he began to work as assistant to director Peter Fleischmann for the science-fiction movie "Hard to be a God", followed by several documentaries for ARTE. After finishing studies in Slavonic languages, literature and history in 1997, he started his own post-production company in Berlin. Here he worked on hundreds of commercial and independent productions of all kinds. Outstanding is "Odyssey", a 26 part animation series, "Mein Freund der Moerder" again with Peter Fleischmann, "Praha -- Stage of the Unexplainable", his first long movie as director, "Feathered Fan and Silken Ribbon" and now "Lee Perry -- Vision Of Paradise", his third work as director of long documentaries.
